Pigs head croquettes & steam trains in Waterloo

Matt organised an amazing Birthday surprise weekend for me in London, which we both really enjoyed. It was memorable and we did some fabulous things.

We stayed at The Waldorf and had a gorgeous room. We went shopping the first afternoon, Paul Smith etc. and had afternoon tea in the hotel with pink Champagne.

That night, we went to see something I’ve wanted to for ages, The Railway Children at Waterloo Station, in the old Eurostar terminal. It was exciting to sit on the platform and see real steam trains come into the station and the play was very innovative. There were more Gays in the audience than children; that made us laugh!

We walked back across Waterloo Bridge and Southbank looked amazing. We topped off a great night with a few drinks in the Duke of Wellington with Paul Taylor & Daniel Pitt who are enjoying their stint at the Barbican apartment at the moment.

After breakfast in the sunshine in Covent garden, we went to see the Sense in the City exhibition at the Transport Museum which is highly recommended.

Then we changed for lunch at The Savoy Grill, which started with cocktails in the American Bar. We had 2, then lunch which was fabulous. Six courses which for me started with Pigs Head Croquettes, followed by Sea Bream then Roast Rib of Beef from the trolley. Sorbet, Baked Alaska and coffee with Petite Fours washed down with a delicious Chablis created the end to a blissful weekend away, thank you so much Matty! x
